Professorship (W3) for Education with a Focus on Education and Society

Responsibilities:

The Faculty of Education is seeking a professor (W3) of education with a focus on education and society.

The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in educational science with a focus on education and society. The applicant is expected to have made significant contributions to issues of social inequality in the field of educational science and to educational theoretical perspectives that take into account social-background-based and gender-based discrimination and their interconnections.  The professorship must be located in one of the faculty’s research areas (https://www.ew.uni-hamburg.de/en/forschung/fakultaere-forschungsschwerpunkte.html). Involvement in the University’s profile initiative Labor and Social Change is desired.

The successful candidate is also expected to teach in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in educational science, including in the teacher training programs. Involvement in the faculty’s internationalization and knowledge exchange activities is also is desired.


Your profile:

We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the professorship field.

Applicants are expected to have a proven record of relevant theoretical contributions and empirical research, particularly with qualitative methods.

International research experience, a successful track record in acquiring third-party funding for projects, very good didactic skills and experience in university teaching, and management and human resources skills are also expected.

German-language proficiency (C1) or the willingness to develop the same within 2 years of appointment is expected.
