Junior Professorship (W1) for Mathematics with a focus on Algebra and Number Theory

Responsibilities

The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (Department of Mathematics ) is seeking a junior professor (W1) of mathematics with a focus on algebra and number theory.

The professorship involves teaching and conducting research in higher structures in algebra, mathematical physics, topology, or number theory. The professorship involves work in the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1624: Higher structures, moduli spaces, and integrability and in the Cluster of Excellence 2121 Quantum Universe.

We expect the professor to teach all aspects of the subject, particularly in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and the Masters of Science in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics.

We expect the successful candidate to participate actively in teaching and the instruction of students pursuing a teacher training degree.

Your profile

This junior professorship is aimed at early career researchers. We are seeking an outstanding academic with experience in the research area of the position advertised (see “Responsibilities”).

An outstanding doctorate, relevant publications, and German-language proficiency (C1) or the willingness to develop the same within 2 years of appointment are expected.

Additional information

The applicant must have completed their academic qualification no more than four years ago. Education and supervisory periods may be considered when determining this period.
