Research Associate (Postdoc) Political Economy § 28 Subsection 2 HmbHG

Your responsibilities

Duties include teaching and research in the respective department or institute. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications as well as acquire teaching experience. These duties are intended to promote academic achievement. Therefore, at least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate’s own academic work.

You will have the opportunity to conduct independent research in the area of political economy/applied microeconomics. The research environment allows for interdisciplinary collaborations focusing on the following areas: Voting, Information Aggregation, and Information Transmission; Economic Models of Narratives; Digital Economics and Artificial Intelligence; Gender Economics; Organizational Economics. Ideally, your research interests include applied theory in at least one of the above focus areas.

Furthermore, you will be involved in a planned DFG research group on Big Structural Change.

Your teaching load is 5 LVS. You are expected to teach exercises/tutorials (Microeconomics I or II, Microeconomics for Business students) if there is a corresponding need in the department. Therefore, a good knowledge of German is required.


Your profile

A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate.

PhD in economics. Very good training in microeconomic theory and experience with independent work on game-theoretic models are also desirable, as well as ideally experience in experimental economics research. Excellent English and good German language skills are required.
