Successful candidates will explore the full potential of scatterometry for sea-ice remote sensing by using the "Multi3Scat” helicopter-borne scatterometer instrument to measure fully polarimetric sea ice backscatter properties across five radar frequencies over sea ice and by analyzing respective data obtained during Arctic field cruises together with ground truth data to expand insights into sea-ice physics and to develop new sea-ice remote sensing algorithms.
A university degree in a relevant field, plus doctorate.
Knowledge of sea-ice and snow physics, and experience in remote sensing processing, time-series analysis and numerical modelling using a modern computer language is mandatory. Experience in field work and in the analysis of snow and sea-ice measurements is desirable.
