Research Associate for the Project “Cluster of Excellence ‚CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter‘ - Ultrafast and atomic-scale functional control of matter.” § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

We are opening a new Research Associate position in the attosecond science team at the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL) in Hamburg. In the CFEL-ATTO group, we develop advanced attosecond technology to track and control electron dynamics in matter. Our approach enables real-time observation of electronic processes and manipulation of properties at the atomic scale. The Research Associate will conduct experiments combining tunable few-femtosecond UV-vis and attosecond soft X-ray pulses with liquid jet technology, as well as measurements at large-scale facilities to control matter’s functionality with laser light.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

The successful applicant has:

  • a master’s degree in physics, chemistry, or materials science
  • experience with lasers and/or spectroscopy approaches
