The Faculty of Education invites applications for the IEA Foundation Professorship (W3) for Education Science with a Focus on the Design of International Comparative Studies.
Outstanding research in the field of international school-performance assessment is expected, particularly in innovative approaches to measuring educational outcomes and their prerequisites, as well as in the development of longitudinal designs for studying international school performance. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to content and methodologies in the field of international school-performance studies with a particular focus on institutional determinants of educational results and inequalities, to conduct research on longitudinal designs and the assessment of predictive validity, and to develop computer-based data collections. The willingness to collaborate with colleagues from school and teaching research, subject-specific didactics, and/or educational psychology, as well as participation in joint research projects in one of the faculty and/or University research areas (https://www.ew.uni-hamburg.de/en/forschung/fakultaere-forschungsschwerpunkte.html), is also desired.
The successful candidate is expected to teach in the educational science bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and teacher training degree programs. Involvement in knowledge exchange activities is desired.
This professorship will be jointly funded by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) for a period of 10 years. As a result, collaboration with the IEA on research tasks is expected.
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the professorship field.
A dedicated educational science profile is expected, with multiple years of individual research experience and contributions to the issues and lines of inquiry involved in international comparative education with a focus on international school performance studies. Experience in interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration is desired.
