Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.
The jobholder is expected to participate in research and teaching (2 LVS) in interdisciplinary and computer science-related courses (e.g. cheminformatics, algorithms and data structures) at the University of Hamburg. Research activities will be in the field of method development in cheminformatics and computer-aided design of new active substances. We are looking for university graduates with an interest in a doctorate in computer science with applications in the life sciences, for example graduates (Diploma/Master) in the fields of:
Experience in software development (preferably C++, Python, web programming) and at least basic knowledge of organic and physical chemistry, structural biochemistry and medicinal chemistry are expected. Due to the involvement in bioinformatics teaching as well as in research collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry, good communication skills are expected.
