Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities.

Your research focus will be on the design and evaluation of novel bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BMED) cells for direct air capture (DAC). Promising membrane and electrode material candidates will be investigated in a test bench under realistic conditions. You will learn and improve your skills and knowledge in optimizing membranes, electrode materials and operating parameters to reduce the specific energy consumption of BPMED per ton of CO2.

What You Will Do:

  • setting-up a testbench for BMED for DAC
  • apply electrochemical diagnostic tools for BMED
  • perform in situ/ex situ characterization methods to describe the losses within the BMED and optimize the operating parameters

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or related fields.

  • experience
    • with preparation, coating and characterization of porous electrode materials and/or
    • in BPMED, water electrolysis or fuel cell testing and/or
    • in design and construction of test benches is an advantage and highly desirable
