Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.
As part of your dissertation, you will write three to four scientific papers in the field of political economy and/or organizational economics, one of them in sole authorship, present them at conferences and submit them for publication in international peer-reviewed journals (Handelsblatt ranking A+ to C). You continue your education at at least one summer school and interact with the professor (primary reviewer), with other doctoral students and postdocs in the team, and with researchers in the department and faculty. This includes attending research seminars at the department. Funding is provided for conference travel and summer schools as well as submissions for publication. You will be involved in teaching by giving tutorials on lectures in B.Sc. Economics (e.g. Microeconomics I and II, Microeconomics for Business students) and other related tasks. Your teaching load is 3 LVS.
A university degree in a relevant field.
You have the necessary training and motivation to design, program if necessary, and conduct theory-based experiments (in the lab, online via Prolific or access panels such as Bilendi, and in the field) to explain microeconomic issues in the fields of political economy and/or organizational economics. Ideally, you will have good to very good grades in relevant master's courses (e.g., Experimental Economics) and/or an experimental economics section in your master's thesis. An interest in microeconomic applied theory is also desirable. Very good English and good German language skills are required.
