Professorship (W2) for Bioorganic Chemistry

Responsibilities

The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences is seeking a professor (W2) of bioorganic chemistry.

The professorship covers the subject of organic chemistry in research and teaching, with a focus on bioorganic chemistry or synthetic organic chemistry with links to biologically active compounds. We also expect links to the department’s research areas—for example, the development of active substances and infection research—and participation in the University’s core research area Inflammation, Infection and Immunity.

We expect the professor to teach all aspects of organic chemistry in the bachelor’s and master’s programs and to take part in teacher training programs and teach students taking minors in the field.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the professorship field.

Applicants should have a relevant international track record in publishing in the field of bioorganic chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry as well as experience in acquiring and conducting externally funded projects. We also expect applicants to have good teaching skills and teaching experience in organic chemistry. It is desirable for applicants to have knowledge of and to have contributed to international and interdisciplinary collaboration and projects. German-language proficiency (C1) or the willingness to develop the same within 2 years of appointment is expected.
